A Million Dollars Is One Million Single Dollars

efore the Stop Losing Stuff program, mornings in my house were pure chaos. Shoes went missing, lunchboxes vanished, and someone always ended up crying (sometimes it was me). I used to nag, yell, and say, “How many times do I have to remind you?”
Then I joined the SLS parent session, and something in me shifted. Henry said something that stuck: “Children learn best when peace, not pressure, leads the way.”
I realized my tone was teaching stress, not structure. So I changed it. Instead of scolding, I started guiding. We created a five-minute “find check” before bed—just five minutes to make sure everything had a home.
The first few nights felt awkward, but then I saw the magic: calmer mornings, organized kids, and fewer meltdowns. My 7-year-old even made her own checklist, complete with doodles!
The biggest surprise? It helped me too. I stopped losing my patience, and our home began to feel lighter.
